Géza Vermes was a Professor at Oxford University and pioneered the scholarly study of the Dead Sea Scrolls and Jesus within first-century Jewish context. His extensive work translating and interpreting ancient sources established him as one of the 20th century's most authoritative voices on Jewish origins of Christianity.
